Broadcasting snapshot
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to get into sports broadcasting. I got my foot in the door at age 15 when I joined "The Pain Clinic" (WHTK-AM) as a co-host in July of 2001. Half of my high school days (junior and senior years) were spent taking a Radio & Television Broadcasting course, which included internships with a local radio station and commercial production house.
My college years were spent in the fourth-largest media market in the U.S., Philadelphia, as a student at Temple University's School of Media and Communication. During my time at Temple, I was a play-by-play voice for Temple's Division I sports programs including baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse and field hockey, while also serving as a sideline reporter and host for Temple's prestigious men's and women's basketball programs. I anchored and reported sports reports for Temple Update, the school's weekly television news program. I also took on an executive producer and lead anchor role for OwlSports Update.
I began announcing hockey in 2005 after growing up playing the sport and working at an ice rink. TV play-by-play for high school games in Rochester would be my first official hockey work in 2005. Since then I have announced hundreds of hockey games of all different levels across the United States. My interest especially peaked during my 2008 internship at CSN Philadelphia, assisting with hockey broadcasts and highlight shows. During this time I was able to shadow different NHL broadcasters, including Flyers TV voice Jim Jackson.
I spent the past five seasons covering the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans. I hosted their pre-game, intermission and post-game shows on FOX Sports 1280, and also filled in on play-by-play for the team. In addition, I also appeared on broadcasts for the Utica Comets (play-by-play), Adirondack Flames (color analyst) and Hamilton Bulldogs (intermission guest). In June 2015, I added newspaper writing to my résumé, covering the Manchester Monarchs' AHL championship run in the Calder Cup Finals for their local paper, the New Hampshire Union Leader.
In August 2015, I took the next step in my hockey play-by-play career by accepting the Broadcaster and Media Relations Coordinator position with the Chicago Steel of the USHL, the nation's top junior hockey league.
